Movement Snacks

A movement snack is a small amount of movement done on its own, not as part of a larger exercise routine or other activity.

The May 2026 Movement Snack Spotlight is…

Sit-to-Stand-to-Sit-to-Stand…

Whenever you are going to stand up anyway or you just feel like stretching your legs, stand up, but sit right back down again. Then stand up and sit down. Then stand up and sit down. Then stand up and go do whatever.

If the chair you are in is awkward to get out of, you can get up, walk to a different chair and sit down. Then stand up and sit down, etc.

If you are in a hurry to do whatever it is you are standing up for, you can do that first. Then come back and sit down and stand up. Then sit down and stand up, etc.

It’s fine to use your hands, if that’s what works. Just focus on mostly using your legs.

#31DaysofMovementSnacks Project

  • A woman outdoors with trees in the background, wearing glasses and a white shirt with a logo, looking at the camera. The overlay text says she is making a resolution to film 31 days of movement snacks.

31 Days of Movement Snacks Playlist

My resolution for January 2025 was to do, film, and post 31 days of movement snacks, and I did it! This YouTube playlist has all the original reels as they were uploaded to Instagram and Facebook.

  • A green background with large white hashtag text at the top reading '#31DaysofMovementSnacks Compilation'. A smaller photo of a smiling woman with glasses, outside in front of leafless trees, wearing a white hoodie with a logo and black text, is on the left side. The woman has a sticker on her hoodie that says 'I'm Katherine Roccasecca. I firmly believe that resolutions can be made anytime.' A yellow sticker at the bottom right says 'Move M ent' with an abstract bite mark design.

31 Days of Movement Snacks Video

I compiled all the individual snack videos into one 30-minute video.

  • A collage of three photos featuring a woman in different activities. The first shows her folding laundry indoors, the second shows her outdoors in snowy weather, and the third shows her sitting in an office. Each photo has yellow captions with motivational messages about daily tasks and walking. The indoor image has a caption about folding laundry, the outdoor one about walking on pretty paths, and the office image about setting up space for walking.
