Stretching

Stretching is a great way to feel better after sitting for a long while or after a walk. It also helps to improve your flexibility and mobility.

    Quilters Stretches Project

Sitting at a table with a sewing machine, at a desk with a computer, or in a comfy chair with handwork can lead to rounded shoulders, tight hip flexors, and other issues.

In the fall of 2023 I created a free three-video series with an accompanying article to help people stretch these muscles and preserve their mobility.

    Quilters Stretches Class/Presentation

This class gets participants to push back their chairs and stretch while in their seats and while standing. They will finish feeling rejuvenated and ready to quilt! The class can be adapted for most group sizes and a variety of spaces. Recommended duration is 30–45 minutes. It’s perfect for your quilt group, sewing circle, or retreat.

I can also offer a presentation for larger groups that is less participatory. It includes a mini-trunk show, information on how to set up workspaces, and demonstration of key stretches, including ones that can be done by participants in crowded seating.

Contact me for pricing and customization options. I can offer this material strictly as a talk, fully as an exercise class, or anywhere in between.
