Have you been thinking that you would like to walk farther, walk more comfortably, walk faster? Now is the time!

This walking program will help you get started and stay with it! We have an online discussion group and will meet up for group training walks. You get accountability, advice, support, and more.

In this group we will we follow my nine-week Couch to 5K Walk plan.

The plan begins wherever you are—whether that is literally the couch or not—and guides you to walk a little farther each week until you are able to walk 5K or 3.1 miles.

The program begins on National Walking Day, Wednesday, April 1st with a short kick-off walk and Q&A session. It concludes on Saturday, June 6th. June 6th is National Trails Day, and I will be leading a 5K hike on the flat, dirt trail at Sycamore in Johnston. It is also the date of the American Heart Association 2026 Central Iowa Heart Walk at DMACC in Ankeny.
