CITA Trail Festival + Dirty Du, Too

  • Greenwood Park Playground 8 Foster Drive Des Moines, Iowa, 50312 United States (map)

“The Central Iowa Trail Association (CITA) invites you to [their] inaugural Trail Festival (and Dirty Du, Too!). This highly anticipated event is designed to celebrate our extensive natural-surface trail network and welcomes participants of all ages and skill levels, including mountain bikers, trail runners, hikers, and active families.

“The festival will serve as a central hub for Central Iowa's outdoor health and wellness community. The festival grounds, group rides, trail runs, and hikes are completely free for the public to attend. The day is anchored by our annual, competitive Dirty Duathlon race (registration required), a youth MTB race, and potential mountain bike skills clinics. Delicious food and refreshing beverages will be available on-site for purchase, provided by Thirsty Pigs.”

The events are designed to help people looking for a simple way to become more active.

The second purpose is to increase appreciation of our local soft trails. What is a soft trail? Simply, it is an unpaved trail. Its surface may be dirt, grass, or crushed rock/gravel.
